Mendocino County Recent Arrest Sources
Mendocino County works from one central booking source. That source is the Sheriff's Office Booking Log. The Mendocino County Jail itself sits at 951 Low Gap Road in Ukiah, and booked arrestees are processed there. When someone is arrested in Mendocino County, the arresting agency writes its own incident record first. The jail's booking entry only takes shape once the person is delivered and processed. Several agencies make arrests here. Ukiah Police, Fort Bragg Police, Willits Police, and the Sheriff's Office all do. Because of that, an agency's incident record can precede or differ from the county jail entry. A booking marks intake and custody at the jail. It does not settle the criminal case by itself. For the full picture, pair the arrest record with the Mendocino Superior Court disposition.
Mendocino County Arrest Roster
The official MCSO Booking Log opens on the current date. You can run a search without filling in every field. The online window reaches back 30 days from today. That cap limits web view only, since the underlying booking record stays intact. Clear the "currently jailed only" filter if the person was released but the recent booking still falls within the window.
| Search field | Best use | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Find a known person | Common names need detail review |
| Subject number | Match a known county identity | Not a court case number |
| Booking number | Open a specific intake event | One person may have several bookings |
| In Custody | Limit results to current jail custody | Released entries may be excluded |
| Booking dates | Review one day or a date range | Cannot exceed the web window |
| Housing facility | Choose county jail or elsewhere | Does not search state or federal custody |
The summary can show name, subject number, custody status, and a scheduled release date. Date of birth and physical descriptors appear too. A multiple-bookings indicator flags repeat Mendocino County arrests. Open a result and the detail view may add booking history, origin, prisoner type, bond, charges, court docket, release date, and disposition where those fields are populated. No booking photo appears. The official same-day Booking Log view shows the screen used to examine one date window.

No photo gallery appears here. The page shows search options for finding people. It also explains policy limits. It is not a permanent archive.
Mendocino County Arrest Feed Windows
Both the current-day and multi-day views draw from one New World portal, so Mendocino County is not running two separate arrest feeds. Want same-day results? Put the identical date in both boxes. That narrower query works best for fresh bookings. Stretch the dates wider and you get the multi-day view, capped by a rolling 30-day window. Nothing posts on a fixed schedule, and there is no guaranteed holiday or refresh timing for either.
| Reader task | Official method | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Newest booking activity | Current-date or same-date query | That every arrest has finished processing |
| Several days of bookings | Date-range query, up to the 30-day web limit | That the result is an all-time arrest log |
| Incident context | MCSO Media Logs or city police publication | That the subject entered county custody |
Booking is not instant, MCSO cautions. Hours can pass first, so a Mendocino arrest often happens well before its roster row appears. For the tightest window, Arrests Last 24 Hours handles same-day searching. Wider publication and archive questions route through the Police Blotter section of the navigation. Treat these as search paths, not proof of two county databases.
When Mendocino Arrests Post
Four clocks matter here. An arrest time, a booking time, a roster posting time, and a court time never match. MCSO publishes no fixed cadence for any of them. Its own Corrections guidance offers the practical answer: intake itself can take several hours. Transport, identity checks, health screening, and record completion all add gaps between the street and a searchable booking row. No standard duration is published for any single step.
Court comes next, on the county's own timetable. MCSO says people are scheduled within 72 hours on court days. Weekends and public holidays are excluded. Exact hearing times are not released by the jail. Ask the court clerk or the attorney for that detail. California Penal Code §825 sets the general prompt-arraignment framework. A roster row cannot tell you whether a hearing happened or how the judge ruled.
Note: For a fresh arrest, recheck the roster after intake time and contact the jail when current custody needs prompt confirmation.
Mendocino Arrest Logs Differ
Mendocino County arrest information arrives on several different rhythms. MCSO daily Media Logs split incidents from arrests. They can include date, time, city, narrative, incident number, and disposition-style details, some redacted. A morning Booking Recap Sheet goes out for Ukiah Daily Journal pickup. The jail manual sets that flow. Ukiah Police publishes daily bulletin PDFs. Fort Bragg Police posts dated booking PDFs. Willits Police lists no dedicated online arrest roster in its official navigation.
Do not blend these into one mugshot feed. A police bulletin can describe an arrest without confirming county custody. A newspaper digest selects and edits rather than mirroring the live roster. Fort Bragg weekly crime statistics track trends, not bookings. MCSO Citizen Connect adds transparency but is not the jail booking system. Each source answers a narrower question, sometimes on a different date.
Mendocino Arrest Record Fields
Every Mendocino County booking record ties one arrest event to one person. A field can sit blank until staff enter the data. Result pages often look shorter than the full detail page. Expect that gap. Treat any bond figure as a booking fact only. A warrant hold is not a disposition either. Rely on the booking number to tell repeated entries apart.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Subject and booking numbers | County identity and intake-event identifiers |
| Booking date and time | When jail intake was recorded |
| Originating agency | Agency associated with the booking |
| Custody and release | Current status or entered release information |
| Bond or bail | Amount and bond information when populated |
| Booked charges | Charges recorded at intake |
| Court docket and disposition | Handoff fields when later data is available |
| Aliases and descriptors | Identity details used to separate matches |
Bail at MCSO goes through cash, certified check, money order, or a bail bond. Personal checks are not accepted. After a court return, the agency says release usually runs two to four hours. Overnight is different. No releases happen between 10 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., so a status can sit unchanged for hours even after court has finished.
Mendocino Arrest Mugshots and Photos
Mendocino County takes a firm line on booking photos. The MCSO roster states plainly that arrestee photographs stay off the booking-log website. It cites a Ninth Circuit ruling. That policy covers the web roster only. The jail's own policy manual still names an arrestee photo sheet in the A-file. It lists a booking photograph in the classification file. So a mugshot can exist as an internal controlled record. The public roster simply shows none.
A tightly written Public Records Act request can ask MCSO for the booking photograph and the booking record as two separate items. The office lists no booking-photo fee and no special photo form. Disclosure timing is never guaranteed. Under applicable law, the office may disclose, redact, or withhold the material. A newspaper image or a copied photo on a private page does not mean MCSO publishes that image anywhere online.
State law adds one more layer. California Penal Code §13665 restricts certain law-enforcement booking-photo posts on social media after nonviolent arrests. Exceptions exist for public safety, judicial needs, fugitives, and other listed situations. Its definition of social media leaves out agency websites and electronic data systems. The law binds official social posts. It does not force MCSO to add mugshots to its arrest roster.
Find Mendocino Arrests and Mugshots
Stick to official, custody-specific sources. That habit keeps a Mendocino County booking from blending into a state sentence or a passing news item. It also stops an old copied mugshot from standing in for the current court record. Precision matters here.
- Search the MCSO Booking Log for county-jail intake and current or recent custody.
- Check MCSO Media Logs or the arresting city department for the incident narrative.
- Request the jail booking photo from MCSO if the image is needed and disclosure is legally available.
- Use Mendocino Superior Court for public hearings, filed charges, and disposition.
- Use CDCR CIRIS, BOP, or ICE only when that separate custody type is at issue.
- Use California VINE for custody notifications and release or transfer alerts, not photographs.
The county's official roster URL sits at a plain HTTP numeric address. It is linked from official county and Sheriff pages, though. Use the county Inmate Locator or the MCSO Publications page. Either one confirms you have the right destination. Never hand over credentials or payment. A page that looks like the roster has not earned that trust.
Where Mendocino Booking Photos Appear
Official sources come first because each one has a defined custodian. Private Mendocino County pages can keep copies. Local news outlets can too. The copies persist long after the Sheriff portal's web window closes. That persistence has a cost, though. A lingering image is not proof the record is complete or current.
| Channel | Photo status | Use and caution |
|---|---|---|
| MCSO Booking Log | No photo displayed | Official recent county booking metadata |
| MCSO Records/PRA | Possible request, no release promise | Official custodian for the county booking file |
| CDCR media process | Identification photos may be requested | State-prison records, not fresh county bookings |
| Local news | Varies by story and source credit | Selected reporting, not a live custody list |
| Private county sections | May show copied or older photos | Unofficial, incomplete, and possibly stale |
Mendocino sections exist at RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, Mugshots.com, Mugshots Zone, and a PublicJailRecords example. Every one of them is secondary. Busted Newspaper returns no Mendocino page. No coverage or update claim should be inferred there. The Mendocino Voice and the Ukiah Daily Journal add dated narrative context. Neither operates an official daily mugshot gallery.
Request Mendocino Arrest Records
MCSO's Public Records Act page points requesters to Mendocino County NextRequest, pra@mendocinosheriff.org, or (707) 234-2015. The Records Department also answers at (707) 463-4418. An initial determination usually arrives within 10 calendar days. That clock is not a promise the material itself arrives that fast.
- Identify the person, approximate booking date, and arresting agency.
- Add the subject number or booking number when the roster provides one.
- Describe the booking record and booking photograph separately.
- Ask for the legal basis for any redaction or withholding.
- Ask for an estimate before agreeing to any lawful administrative or duplication cost.
MCSO posts no booking-photo fee. Court costs sit on a separate schedule. The MMC-900 form lists 50 cents per page and $40 per certified document. It adds a $15 search fee. That fee applies once a search passes ten minutes. Do not assume those court amounts apply to a Sheriff photo request. The official Mendocino County NextRequest portal is the electronic route for a county request.

The portal routes precise record requests. It saves time. The county custodian still decides what gets disclosed to each requester. That part stays human.
California Arrest Record Law
Government Code §7923.610 spells out arrest information that must generally stay public. The list covers identity, physical description, arrest and booking times, and location. It also covers factual circumstances, bail, and release or holding status. Charges appear too. Warrants and parole or probation holds round out the list. Disclosure can still be withheld when it would endanger safety or a successful investigation. One thing is absent. The statute never requires a county roster to publish a booking photograph.
The California Public Records Act lives in Government Code Division 10, starting at §7920.000. Access bends to exemptions. These cover safety, active investigations, juvenile records, confidential information, medical material, and sealed cases. A sample MCSO Media Log redacts one juvenile arrest entry. That redaction is a useful reminder: a missing name does not mean no arrest occurred.
The official Civil Code §1798.91.1 page describes California's protection. It bars charging a subject to remove, correct, modify, or withhold a disseminated booking photograph.

The statute draws a clean line. No one should pay to suppress a booking image. A public agency may still charge a lawful administrative fee for a correction. Knowing the difference keeps a record request on solid ground.
Correcting Mendocino Arrest Photos
Fix errors at the source first. MCSO Records/PRA accepts correction requests. It also accepts any court order that affects access to a booking entry. Private sites copy from public records, so a request to one publisher changes only that publisher's copy. It cannot touch the Sheriff record, a court file, another website, or a search index.
Each mugshot publisher runs its own removal process. RecentlyBooked posts a free policy covering dismissed, expunged, sealed, inaccurate, or outdated matters. It asks for the record URL, the person's name, and a supporting document. Mugshots Zone offers its own removal form. Mugshots.com lists a contact route instead. Arrests.org and the PublicJailRecords example publish no free local form. No fix there can be promised. California law also bars a site from demanding or accepting payment from the subject in exchange for removing or correcting a disseminated photo.
State law offers a few remedies. Penal Code §851.91 allows a petition for certain arrests that never led to conviction. Section §851.93 grants specified automatic relief after waiting periods. Section §1203.4 conviction dismissal is a separate remedy. A court order is still not instant erasure. Copied pages can linger after the source is deleted or materially changed. Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool can then update a stale search result or image. That refresh is not sealing, and it leaves the official record untouched.
Mendocino Arrest Warrants and Wanted Notices
The Sheriff's office posts no public warrant-search page and no most-wanted list for Mendocino County. The booking log can still show warrant-related charges or holds. The court portal may expose public case details. Neither one works as a warrant-clearance service. The Mendocino Superior Court MMC-900 request form states plainly that bench and arrest warrants cannot be supplied through it.
For a specific person and a lawful reason, call MCSO Records at (707) 463-4418 or the appropriate court clerk. A lawyer can advise on handling an active warrant. Never lean on partial web results to dodge law enforcement or plan movement around a warrant. Do not approach someone named in an official wanted notice. Report urgent safety tips to law enforcement. Use emergency services when danger is immediate.
Note: A warrant-related booking field shows what was recorded at intake; it is not a complete county warrant index or final case result.
After a Mendocino Arrest Booking
A Mendocino County booking is only the first step. "Booking" covers the jail's intake and custody process. "Arraignment" is the early hearing where the court addresses charges and rights, while "bond" is a financial condition that may allow release. "Disposition" names the court outcome, and the roster never substitutes for the court file itself.
- Just booked
- May appear after processing in the county roster.
- In custody
- Can be selected with the current-custody filter.
- Released
- May remain visible inside the 30-day booking window when that filter is cleared.
- State prison
- Search CDCR CIRIS after a sentence and transfer to CDCR custody.
- Federal or ICE custody
- Use the relevant federal locator, not the county roster.
Mendocino Superior Court adopted re:SearchCA in 2025. Email registration is required. Nonparties can view nonconfidential documents and hearing dates remotely, though many criminal files remain under access rules that may require a courthouse kiosk in Ukiah or Fort Bragg. Confidential and sealed material stays closed. The official Mendocino Superior Court portal is the current starting point for court access.

The court source adds what a jail booking cannot show. Hearings live there. Case outcomes live there too. Booking records stop at the arrest details.
Mendocino Arrest Custody Systems
A county-jail search should not stretch into every corrections system. The county Inmate Locator links both the MCSO jail portal and CDCR CIRIS. The two answer different custody questions. CIRIS covers people in California state prisons. Its results can show name, CDCR number, age, institution, admission date, commitment county, and parole eligibility. The official CDCR CIRIS search shows the state-prison route.
The Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator tracks federal inmates from 1982 to the present, and it is no booking-photo gallery. ICE's Online Detainee Locator needs a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or an exact name with country and birth date. It skips anyone under 18. The U.S. Marshals publish no nationwide public arrestee roster. Match the search to the actual custody path, whether the arresting agency, federal court, BOP, or ICE.

CIRIS locates sentenced inmates in state prison. It serves that one purpose. A fresh Mendocino County booking will not appear there. Check local sources instead.
Mendocino Arrest Custody Alerts
MCSO points the public to California VINE at 1-877-411-5588. VINE adds custody alerts. It can flag a release or transfer after a booking, though the county publishes no Mendocino-specific update interval. Use the MCSO roster for booking details. Use California VINE to register for confidential notifications.
The Sheriff's office lists no jail-information mobile app. Public updates instead flow through its website, Everbridge, Nixle, press releases, Media Logs, and social accounts. None of those is a complete booking feed, and the VINELink Custody Check in the site navigation handles the focused alert workflow without turning public-safety posts into a roster.
Older Mendocino Arrest Records
A name that drops off the roster after 30 days has not vanished. The jail keeps more than the daily list. Its posted policy manual lays out longer schedules for various jail records. It also explains how released files get merged and archived into a master file. That manual is old, though. Treat its schedule as a starting point. It is not a promise about how every Mendocino County record is held in 2026. Ask MCSO Records for the custodian and the current retention answer.
Court records live under different rules. For deep history, the California State Archives holds old state materials. Those include San Quentin and Folsom prison registers and photographs. Still, a recent Mendocino booking does not sit there. Know where each trail ends. MCSO keeps the booking file. Superior Court handles the case. CDCR covers state custody, and federal locators track federal or immigration detention.
Mendocino County Arrests by City
City police records and county bookings run on separate tracks. Ukiah Police keeps city reports and daily bulletins. The county jail roster belongs to MCSO. Fort Bragg Police goes further, posting dated booking PDFs alongside its city records route. Willits Police lists no arrest roster, only a 24-hour contact line and report guidance.
- Ukiah: UPD incident and arrest documents, then MCSO for county custody.
- Fort Bragg: FBPD dated PDFs for the city publication trail, then MCSO for broader current custody.
- Willits: WPD for the local report and MCSO for a custodial county booking.
Who made the arrest and where a person is held are two different facts. A city notice can come before any booking. Not every police contact ends in a jail admission. Keep both fields in mind when you trace a Mendocino County arrest.
